Collectively we have worked with Bobby Baker, Split Britches’ Lois Weaver and Peggy Shaw, Helena Hunter, Ron Athey, Julia Bardsley, Rachel Mars and nat tarrab, Stacy Makishi, The RSC, Duckie, The Equality and Human Rights Commission, Chisenhale Dance Space, The Unicorn Theatre, Outside AiR Festival, Thames Festival and at various old man pubs in London’s East End. We are founding members of skill-share & production collective, AiR Supply. Louise works as a freelance theatre technician and lighting designer, and Rebecca worked previously in the wine industry and is qualified to Advanced Level 3(distinction) in Wine & Spirits with the WSET.
As Sh!t Theatre we have been performing around the UK and abroad since the Spring of 2010, and did an international 2011 Summer Tour which included: NYC's HOT! Festival (featuring Lois Weaver), our second Edinburgh show as Sh!t Theatre, Shambala Festival, and Duckie at the RVT.
Our work consists of political satire; the personal; comedy; music; and frequently explores the meta, in that we examine our theatrical practice on stage. We also utilise a specific 'sh!t' aesthetic which is a pastiche of drag. In autumn 2011 we presented an hour-long show at the Pinter Studio, London - an amalgamation of the summer’s work which also featured Lois Weaver. We devised and performed with Duckie on their Christmas show at the Barbican, and were commissioned as script-writers for their online advertising. On Boxing Day we previewed our first full-length radio show after being approached by London's Resonance FM (having been aired on the channel before, performing alongside Josie Long and Mark Thomas at UK Uncut's 'Stand-up for the Alternative'), and are also being filmed throughout the coming year as subjects of Press Play Films Ltd’s documentary ‘This IS Sh!t Theatre’, which explores our work and the wider live art circle. We are Escalator East supported artists 2012 and have just received funding from the Arts Council of England.
